Hi there, and welcome back to Serendipity Marketing. We're a digital marketing agency with a mission to help small businesses grow by applying psychology to their marketing strategies.

When trying to grow your website traffic with SEO, you will eventually have to learn on-page SEO and you'll also have to learn about link building.

Content is King

But when you're just starting off, the key that you need to remember is that content is king.
Really. Stick this in mind because this is the key point.

When you have content on your website, you're going to get more traffic as you are going to give more chances to people to find your web pages when searching on Google.

When you don't have content on your website, you're going to get less traffic.

Google uses that content to put your website out there. So, when people type in phrases around anything related to your website, your content has a higher probability of showing up.

Does this make sense?

So, if you're a beginner, the easiest way to generate traffic is to start writing content. But not just any content. You have to actually write the right kind of content and we are now going to show you how to do this.

Your potential clients will find your web pages through keywords they type on Google when searching for something related to your business industry.

Industry-related keywords

So, it all comes to creating content around those keywords so that your content will be shown when users use them in their Google searches.

If you don't know what keywords relate to the content that you want to write, you can use free tools that will suggest you the best keywords to use.

A very useful that we use as well is named Ubersuggest. Different providers offer this tool for free online.
So, once you are there, just put it in a keyword related to your industry and it will do the magic.

For example, let’s say you are in the digital marketing industry like us. So, you just may type “digital marketing” marketing” and you will get an overview. The overview will show you how many people are typing that keyword within our region, which in our case is the United Kingdom, on a monthly basis.

This way, you can roughly see how popular that keyword is. And then, if you scroll all the way down and click on content ideas, it will show you different blog post ideas related to the term “digital marketing” that people are writing on.

And as you will see here, some of them aren't that great or relevant, while some are good. And you just scroll down until you find something that you would write on.

Once you find something that you feel good writing about, let’s say for example: “ Ultimate guide to digital marketing, a hands-on primer”, you can click the keywords dropdown and you'll start seeing more specific keywords that you can use around that topic and idea.

For example, in this case, it could be “digital marketing guide”, “marketing guides”, “guide to digital marketing”, or “online marketing guides”.

So, this way, you get some keyword ideas on some keywords that you can use.

Alright, now before we move on with this SEO guide, have you ever thought about how much you should invest in marketing to generate constant business growth? Click the button below to calculate the ideal marketing budget you should allocate for higher visibility, engagement, and profit.

How much should you invest in Digital Marketing?

At this point, you can label your research and add new keywords, and this will also give you other terms related to your search that might want to write about. For example, you might get something like “Digital marketing companies”, “What is digital marketing?”, “digital marking strategy”.

So, now that you added some of those keywords, you also want to type in other keywords highly searched for like “online marketing” and get other suggestions like “online marketing courses”, and “online marketing strategies”.

And then you can just keep going and as you do this, you want to add those keywords to the list.

So, the key to writing content is that you need to include popular keywords. If you don't, then you're not really going to rank for anything that can drive traffic to your website.

Now, granted you won't automatically rank for all these keywords, but you will rank for a portion of them, the more you include the higher probability that you'll have to rank for at least some of them.

When you also select ones that have a low SEO difficulty score that is in green, those are ones that are easier to rank for. So, if you select popular keywords that are easy to rank for, you have a higher probability of ranking for those terms.

And as you write content and publish it on your website, you have a high probability of getting more SEO traffic.

No keywords overlapping

Now, if you do this for every blog post that you want to write and you just keep track of your keyword ideas lists, you'll be better off. And the key here is to create a list for every blog post that you're trying to create, but don't keep including the same keywords over and over again.

What we mean by that is that you don't want to have 10 posts related to, for example, “online marketing tools”. You want to keep using new keywords per post.

Surely, there'll be some overlap here and there, but you shouldn't be overlapping 100% of your keywords per post. Maybe you're overlapping on 5% or a small percentage and that's fine, but the majority of the keywords per post should be new.

So, you want to do this exercise each and every time you write a blog post. This way, you're targeting new keywords that will help you generate traffic.

And that's all you have to do to start getting more traffic when you're creating content, especially if you're looking for SEO traffic.
