Are you tired of posting content on the social web that gets no engagement, no traction, no likes, and no shares? Well, of course, you are and, in this article, you're going to be able to fix it with a great social media marketing strategy for content creation.

So, it’s time to understand why your social media content isn’t good for the results you’re aiming for and how to fix it.

Hi there, and welcome back to Serendipity Marketing. We're a digital marketing agency with a mission to help small businesses grow by applying psychology to their marketing strategies.

Before we get started, please go ahead and follow us on LinkedIn, Facebook, or Instagram.

Before we have a question for you. How many of you get at least a hundred likes on whatever you're sharing on the social web? If you are, leave a comment with yes. If you aren't, leave a comment with no. This way, we can see the type of content to create to help you out the most.

It doesn't matter what social profile you want to work on. Whether it's LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube, we are going to show you how to get really good traction.

So, let’s get straight to the point.

1. Video content

The first tip we have for you is to start posting video content. Whether it's YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, or even Twitter, they're all craving video content.

You need to be pushing more out there. They're trying to crush the television networks out there.

Even LinkedIn now has a live feature. Video does way better than anything else.

If you post videos, you'll get way more engagement than if you didn't. We felt that with our channel, we usually get four or five times more engagement just by posting video content over text space.

So, start with that. It’s truly worth it.

2. Don’t look for perfection

The second tip we have for you is to not be so preoccupied with being perfect.

Everyone thinks that they have to pose, wear makeup, and be perfect before they take a picture or they post something.

Nothing has to be perfect.

Just put it out there and see what works.

It's all about testing.

The thing that's working is what you should do more of.

When you post stuff, and it doesn't do well, you shouldn't keep posting that same stuff over and over again.

And that's what you're doing right now.

A lot of people want to post images of quotes, but if you're not getting traction of those images with quotes on LinkedIn or on Facebook, stop posting them.

They're not going to do any better for you.

You have to post things that are doing well.

It's all about testing, and when you're testing, you don't have to be perfect.

Just go with the flow and optimize through time.

3. Leverage microcontent

The next step we have for you is to leverage microcontent.

Most people believe they need to go out there and create content, and they make this whole ordeal of it.

Film your life. Film your day in the office.

Talk about your customers, talk about your products or services.

If you're giving a speech, cool, give that speech. And when you have all this information, cut it up into bite-sized information, five-minute clips, and two-minute clips.

Quick images here and there, add a quote, and test throwing it all out there because then you can use this microcontent to drive traffic to that main piece of content.

It'll help you get three, four, or five times more views than if you just focus on these big pieces of content.
That’s because when you only focus on this big piece of content, it's hit or miss.

But when you do 10 of them, you have 10 shots at doing really well and that'll tell you, hey this is what you should do more of and this is what you should do less of.

4. Not everything is good for everything

The next tip is what works on one social network, won't work on all. We do see a huge trend right now, where people take the same content and put it on LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and Snapchat. They just put it everywhere.

Well, let us tell you something. What works on Instagram won't work as much on Facebook and other platforms.

A good example of this is that we could put images with quotes and do really well on Instagram but Facebook doesn't care about that.

You have to figure out what's working for each social network and do that for that network.

Each algorithm isn't the same.

5. Have your edge

And last but not least, you have to have your edge. This is very important in your social media marketing strategy.

There's something unique about you.

Exploit that, leverage that, and be yourself.

Everyone tries to be someone else on social media.

Who cares what people think? By being yourself, you're going to be much better off than if you're just trying to act a certain way just for Instagram, or just for YouTube, or just for Facebook.

Leverage your edge.

If you're someone who likes cussing because that's just you, be you. If you're someone who's dorky and nerdy, don't try to go out there and pose with male models and female models, just be yourself.

Be yourself and leverage your edge. That’s what works best on social media.

If you follow these social media marketing strategy techniques, you're going to be much more popular on social media, your content won't be garbage, and people are going to like, share, and engage with it.

To recap:

- Use video content – that’s what the platforms are pushing the most,

- Don’t look for perfection – create something nice and test it out,

- Leverage microcontent – people get more engaged by that,

- Don’t use the same content everywhere – each social media has a different algorithm and different audiences,

- Leverage your edge – just be yourself, that’s what works at best on social media.
