Google, on average, makes over eight algorithm changes per day. That's a lot of algorithm changes. So, what SEO tasks should you do to ensure that you're doing all the right things to continually stay at the top of Google?

In this article, we want to break down 4 daily SEO tasks that you ought to do for quicker results.

1. Check rankings

 

The first daily SEO task that we like doing is checking our rankings. We use a free tool named Ubersuggest and if you go there, you can type in your domain or a keyword, hit enter, and it will give you a comprehensive SEO analysis.

To then check your rankings, we want you to go and click on the dashboard button.

This is going to be where you add projects. So, if you don't have a project, you’d click the new project and you would add your URL.

So, let's say you want to track your rankings in the United Kingdom, you can select it and you can also narrow it down to track city locations or multiple countries at the same time.

You can also check it for keywords and add more than one at the same time.

You also add in your competitors' domains so that you can then compare your traffic with them.

So, at this point, you can add the project and you're done. The project gets added and then your rankings will load. Sometimes it takes 10, or 20 minutes for the first set of rankings when you just added your project.

If you do this daily, you'll see the fluctuation of the rankings and optimise them. You’ll see some rankings going and that’s amazing.

For the ones that are going down, you will want to look at those pages and see what you need to do to improve them so you can get your rankings to go up back over time.

And what you want to do is, let's say you are ranking number eight for an SEO company, just Google SEO company. And look at who's ranking for that term, and some of these results are localized. So, who's above you? What are they doing? And what do you need to be doing to rank higher?

So, then you can just look at their pages and compare them to your pages.

Just go through them, look at their page, go really in-depth, check how they display their content, copy, and compare them to yours.

In essence, you want to try to figure out what you need to do to make your page better.

 

2. Keywords research

 

The second SEO task that we like doing in Ubersuggest on a daily basis is to go to the keyword overview and continually search for new keywords.

So, once you type in a keyword, for example, “digital marketing” it will suggest more variations like “digital marketing company”.

So, you will get a list of keywords, some content ideas, and the search volume over time.

This way, you can see different variations of the same terms and their searching volume and competitivity.

And by doing this on a daily basis, when you go to your keywords list, you'll constantly have more keywords. So then that way, you can continually boost and increase your rankings because SEO is all about keywords.

The more keywords you have, the better off you're going to do, assuming you actually take time to create content around those.

So, each and every single day, what we like doing is just spending two, or three minutes on keyword research and constantly adding more keywords to our keyword lists.

3. Site audit

 

The third SEO task that we love doing is just doing a regular site audit. And the reason we like doing this is that as you constantly make changes to your website, and you constantly update things, you keep getting more and more SEO errors or things can go wrong.

So, you’ll want to look at the critical arrows. There might be some pages that take too long to load, and you'll want to have your team work on fixing this because that impacts a lot the SEO performance.

We just like keeping track of all these things, so that way, our SEO is tight and we continually try to perform and rank better over time.

 

4. Google Search Console

 

The fourth of the SEO tasks we like doing is to head over to the Google search console. In Google's search console, you'll see where things are going wrong, and where they're not, and they'll list good URLs, bad URLs, and URLs that need improvement.

You can open up any specific report where you want to see less red as possible. And as your yellow increases, you want to see less yellow, and you just want to go through all the reports.

Make sure there are no errors. We like going through, actually, AMP, breadcrumbs, and FAQ, and I just go through them and make sure there are no major errors.

So, we recommend doing this, because again, if you button up everything that you're doing from an SEO standpoint, it's not one thing that gets your rankings. It's a lot of little things.

And by doing that, you'll consistently rank over time and rank higher.
