Explode Your Blog Traffic Without Paid Ads
Paid ads are a pain, that’s right. They are complex and require experience to run them. But they provide an ROI and if you're getting amazing ROI from them, you should keep doing them. And moreover, even though we’re saying they’re a pain, we still use paid ads and we use them each and every single day but that doesn't mean that's the only way to grow your business.
Hi there, and welcome back to Serendipity Marketing Blog. We're a digital marketing agency with the mission to help small and medium businesses grow by applying psychology to their marketing strategies.
Today, we are going to share with you five sneaky ways you can grow your blog without paid ads.
Before we get started, please go ahead and follow us on LinkedIn, Facebook or Instagram.
STEP 1: Go on social media and comment on your competitors' accounts
Go on any social web so whether it's Facebook or Twitter and go see what people are saying about your competitors. Everyone is talking about your competitors; we hate to say you're not the only popular one out there. That's just the reality and your competitors may be more popular than you but when you see more people talking negatively about your competition or you see them talking positively about your competition you want to engage in their conversation and if they're like “Oh my God! You're X Y & Z company has this amazing post.”
We'll go respond to that person like “Oh, did you know we also have a similar post but ours covers a B and C that it’s uncovered here”
STEP 2: Comment on your competitors' blog
The second strategy you want to do is to go and comment on your competitors' blogs. Your competitors have blog posts. Who says you can't comment on them? If you comment, you engage. And don't be negative, don't be like “Oh, we're better than you or we have better content” You can just be nice and say “Great post! I love how you covered X Y & Z”
You can give some tips and then you can even say “We also covered this set and the other on our blog and if you're interested you can check it out here and link back to your site.”
It's an amazing way to get traffic from your competitors.
STEP 3: ahrefs.com
The third strategy we have for you is to go to ahrefs.com, put in your competitor's blog URL and go see who's linking to them. Hit up each and every single one of those people and a simple email:
“Hey Patrick,
I noticed you're linking to XYZ.com and you linked out to this specific article related to social media marketing. We actually have a similar post but ours covers “topic that covers”.
Cheers.
Adam”
By doing that and shooting out emails to other people are linking to your competitors and it's just a casual email.
If you notice, in that email, we didn't say “Hey you should link out to me, you should promote me.”
No! We are not being that direct. We are just starting a conversation, making it super casual.
By doing that, more people are likely to start including blog posts on their website and link to us.
How much should you invest in Digital Marketing?
STEP 4: Most Popular articles
Buzzsumo shows you the most popular articles or the least popular articles that your competitors have. If you put in their blog URL and it will show you all their most popular posts sorted by social shares. Once you have that, what you want to do with Buzzsumo is take the most popular posts and go write a better version of them.
STEP 5: Help people on social media
And last, but not least, no one is perfect. Everyone has a complaint. If you say you don’t have any complaints, that’s the big lie of the year!
We complain and we bet you people are complaining about your competitors each and every single day.
So, go on the social platform, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn… whatever, and find out who is complaining. Help them out and tell them about your blog and everything you have and all the solutions you have, help them out and by building that bond and helping them, you are going to turn their haters, into your followers.
It’s amazing because you’re just fuelling the fire, making more people passionate about your company, your blog, and you’re blending this community into followers that love your content.
